A friend gave me a few packets of chai poh (salted turnips). So yesterday, I made fried black carrot cake in an attempt to use up the chai poh which are expiring in May. The steamed carrot cake turned out quite good. But I can’t find good black sweet sauce here and my best substitute is an Indonesian Kecap Manis which wasn’t sweet nor black enough. The fried black carrot cake tasted decent, but definitely far from those I have eaten in SG. =/
